Our History

Throughout its history, WireCo has followed a deliberate strategy to achieve growth and market leadership through the merger of complementary manufacturers. The WireCo Business System, introduced in 2020, provides the common philosophy and methods necessary to unite these disparate entities into one cohesive operating company.

Lankhorst family began rope manufacturing business in the Netherlands.

1931

Wire Rope Corporation of America (WRCA) was founded by J.P. Barclay, Sr.

1988

Acquired Union Wire Rope, a wire rope division of Armco Steel.

1999

Acquired wire rope division of Amsted industries, MacWhyte and Broderick & Bascom (B&B began in 1867).

2005

Acquired Aceros Camesa, located in Mexico, producing wire rope, high carbon wire. World’s leading independent producer of EM cables for data logging.

2007

Acquired Casar, the world’s technical leader in design and production of special wire ropes used in critical load lifting applications for hoists, cranes and underground mining.

2010

Acquired Oliveira Sá, a Portugal-based leading synthetic and wire rope manufacturer.

2012

Acquired Lankhorst Euronete Group.

2020

WireCo Business System introduced.
